“I can see already the confidence and impact it’s having – even on our lockdown learning”. (Bishop’s Stortford Headteacher, January 2021)
PRIMARY DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION
The Teaching for Mastery Programme is a professional development opportunity designed to support teachers like you to develop best practice in maths in your school. Sign up now to join the 150 Hertfordshire and Harlow primary schools already taking part. The program offers ongoing support through half-termly workshops, termly visits from your work group lead and opportunities to collaborate with other schools in your area. There are two ways to get involved. You can either take a staged approach beginning with our Mastery Readiness Programme which is facilitated by Herts for Learning advisors, or you can dive straight in and join a Mastery Development Workgroup with one of our Matrix Maths Hub mastery specialists. Both routes in are fully funded by the DfE so there is no cost to the school.

SECONDARY ADVOCATE APPLICATION
Secondary maths teachers whose schools want to introduce and embed teaching for mastery can nominate two teachers (Mastery Advocates) to join a Work Group. You will be part of a locally-based group of teachers who meet regularly to develop professional knowledge and expertise, as well as receiving bespoke support.
In a Teaching for Mastery Work Group you will:
- collaborate with colleagues from other local schools to share best practice
- get individual school support and guidance from a local leader of maths education (LLME)
- take away ideas to help your students become more confident mathematicians, ready to tackle GCSEs and A levels
- introduce and embed teaching for mastery in your classroom and department
